Image of Camille Clare, MD giving DoS Grand RoundsThe Department of Surgery was privileged to hear from Camille Clare, MD, MPH, CPE, FACOG, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the 2022-2023 academic year’s inaugural session of Grand Rounds. Dr. Clare shared her perspectives and experience on mentorship in the learning environment. In particular, she delineated responsibilities of mentors and mentees that lead to successful and productive relationships. Such collaborations are uniquely complementary in nature with often intangible advantages that enrich professional and personal characteristics.

Of note, this Grand Rounds session, the first in-person session since the pandemic, was held in Lecture Hall 1 – a setting of historic significance as shared by Program Director, Lisa Dresner, MD. Department of Surgery Grand Rounds will take place in person from 7-8am every first and third Thursday of the month (Lecture Hall 1). This will be followed by Core Curriculum in Lecture Hall 1B between 8:15-9:30am. For the remaining two (or occasionally three) Thursdays of the month Grand Rounds will be virtual, with Core Curriculum from 7-8am, followed by Grand Rounds from 8-9am.

Grand Rounds this year will feature a series of talks from distinguished local, regional, and national guests. Furthermore, it will include case presentations from all the residency sites, and literature appraisal sessions that will discuss hallmark papers of surgical literature. We look forward to everyone’s participation.
