Students for Choice at Downstate
Downstate’s chapter of Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) is engaged in reproductive health education, advocacy, and training.
MSFC was founded in 1993 as a response to the almost complete deficit of abortion education in medical training and has filled a unique niche in the abortion rights movement.
Students for Choice at Downstate provides a forum for discussion and education of reproductive health and advocacy, organizes to challenge policies and practices around reproductive health training, and promotes opportunities for students to enter fields with confidence in advocating for reproductive freedom.
In the past, DSFC has held talks on the importance of abortion access, workshops on procedures like manual vacuum aspiration, and sessions on how to influence legislature and reach government officials.
DSFC is open to anyone at Downstate who has an interest in promoting reproductive freedom and incorporating it into their future medical practice in any field.
