Street Medicine Outreach Association at Downstate
The Street Medicine Outreach Association at Downstate is a student-run, multidisciplinary volunteer group. DSMOA strives to identify and serve the unsheltered homeless population living within the immediate area surrounding SUNY Downstate. This organization aims to address healthcare inequality for this vulnerable population by delivering first aid and basic preventative care through street-outreach engagement. DSMOA serves as a team of advocates who are equipped to coordinate existing social services and distribute emergency supplies.
Any funds raised will be used to address the health care needs of the unsheltered homeless population surrounding East Flatbush. DSMOA hands out essentials such as water, socks, band-aids, and tampons. These everyday supplies are difficult for the homeless population to obtain. DSMOA will be able to distribute these supplies during our monthly outreach runs. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
The DSMOA Executive Board works diligently throughout the year to improve this organization. We are currently working to expand the organization so we can continue to effectively serve the homeless population around SUNY Downstate Medical Center. The current DSMOA Executive Board includes:

The Downstate Street Medicine Outreach Association is a registered DMC student organization whose funds are administered by the Faculty Student Assn of Downstate Medical Center, Inc. (“FSA”) which is an official IRS 501(c)3 not for profit tax-exempt charitable organization. By making your donation via the PayPal Donate button or following the specific physical checks instructions above, your donation will qualify on your personal income tax as a charitable donation to the extent permitted by IRS regulation and law. Donors who wish an IRS charitable donation acknowledgement letter, or Corporation donors who need an IRS Form W-9 should contact the FSA Business Office.
