Downstate OB-GYN Society
The Ob/Gyn Society at Downstate is a student-run organization that aims to provide educational opportunities and resources to students interested in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our mission is to educate about Ob/Gyn and its various subspecialties, to promote women's reproductive rights and sexual health, and to advocate for fellow students pursuing Ob/Gyn.
Membership is open to all SUNY Downstate students.
Helping Out Those in Need
Through the generosity of the Downstate community, the Ob/Gyn Society at Downstate was able to donate dozens of hygiene products to the CAMBA Kensington family shelter in December 2023. Donations included hundreds of pads and tampons, as well as numerous other items including deodorant, soap, haircare, toothbrushes, toothpaste, skincare, and makeup. We filled four 60-gallon bins with donations! The Kensington is a local family shelter in Brooklyn with capacity to house 64 families. CAMBA family shelters allow parents experiencing homelessness or domestic violence to find safe housing while keeping their children with them, all while helping parents find job opportunities, stabilize family functioning, and transition to permanent housing. The Kensington is only one of numerous shelters run by CAMBA in NYC.
