Tobi J. Somorin Receives United States Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Award, Dean’s Medal of Excellence

The Department of Surgery is proud to congratulate Tobi J. Somorin, an iNSPIRe student, on receiving the United States Public Health Service Physicians
Professional Advisory Committee Excellence in Public Health Award. This national honor
recognizes medical students for their contributions to public health and their commitment
to advancing the health and well-being of the nation.
Tobi was nominated by SUNY Downstate in recognition of his dedication to public health and his work in support of the goals and priorities of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This award recognizes not only his academic achievement, but also his sustained commitment to public health and service. His selection reflects the impact of his work and his dedication to improving health outcomes beyond the clinical setting.
This is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of Tobi’s hard work, leadership, and meaningful engagement in public health research. We are proud to see his efforts recognized through this distinguished national honor and congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement. Tobi was also awarded the School of Public Health’s Dean’s Medal of Excellence – a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding academic achievement and leadership.
