The SUNY Downstate Department of Surgery was pleased to welcome Armando E. Castro-Tié, MD, FACS, FASMBS, for Grand Rounds, where he presented “From Experience to Execution: A Practical Leadership Toolkit.”
Dr. Castro-Tié serves as Senior Vice President and Physician Executive for the Eastern Market, Chair of the Department of Surgery at South Shore University Hospital, General Surgery Residency Program Director at South Shore University Hospital, and System Vice Chair of the Surgery Service Line at Northwell Health.
His presentation focused on the transition from professional experience to effective execution, offering practical insights into leadership, decision-making, and the development of tools that support meaningful progress within surgical departments and health systems. Drawing on his extensive experience as a surgeon and educator, Dr. Castro-Tié provided valuable perspectives for faculty, residents, and staff navigating the evolving demands of academic surgery and healthcare leadership.
