The SUNY Downstate Department of Surgery congratulates Maryam Ali Khan, MD, on her fellowship match in Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
Dr. Khan completed her medical education at CMH Lahore Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. With a strong interest in cardiovascular pathology and a commitment to pursuing a career in academic surgery, she undertook a research fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. During this time, she strengthened her research skills, gained valuable insight into the U.S. healthcare system, and contributed to multiple scholarly works, including presentations at national and regional conferences, publications in the Journal of Vascular Surgery, and book chapters.
Dr. Khan completed her first year of general surgery training at Brown University before joining SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University as a second-year resident. Through her clinical performance and dedication, she subsequently advanced to a categorical position within the residency program, where she has excelled as a senior resident with a strong commitment to patient care, professionalism, and academic development.
Her interest in academic vascular surgery has remained a consistent focus throughout her training, supported by ongoing involvement in national presentations and scholarly productivity through the iNSPIRe initiative. These combined experiences ultimately led to her successful match into the highly competitive Vascular Surgery Fellowship at UPMC, a premier institution in the field, reflecting her longstanding dedication to academic vascular surgery.
At UPMC, Dr. Khan intends to build upon the extensive clinical and educational opportunities available to further refine her expertise in vascular surgery and contribute meaningfully to advancements in the field.
