The SUNY Downstate Department of Surgery was pleased to participate in a SUNY Joint Grand Rounds for Otolaryngology and Surgery featuring David Jakubowicz, MD, FACS, FAAOHNS, FAAOA, who presented “Healthcare Legislation and Physician Advocacy.”
Dr. Jakubowicz serves as Immediate Past President of the Medical Society of the State of New York and Director of Otolaryngology and Allergy at Essen Health.
His presentation highlighted the important role physicians play beyond the clinical setting, particularly in shaping healthcare policy, engaging with legislative processes, and advocating for patients, colleagues, and the broader medical community. Drawing on his leadership experience in organized medicine, Dr. Jakubowicz offered valuable insight into how physicians can contribute meaningfully to discussions that influence the future of healthcare delivery.
