Faculty Highlight | Dr. Alexander Schwartzman Receives Hugh J. Carroll, MD Award for Clinical Excellence

The Department of Surgery congratulates Alexander Schwartzman, MD, MBA, FACS, Vice Chairman and Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, on receiving the Hugh J. Carroll, MD Award for Clinical Excellence at the College of Medicine Graduation Awards ceremony. 

The Hugh J. Carroll, MD Award recognizes the essential qualities of an exemplary clinical teacher of medicine: the science of medicine, reflected in the ability to communicate to students the knowledge essential for the diagnosis of disease and the treatment of patients, and the art of medicine, reflected in compassion for patients and the cultivation of humanistic attitudes among students. 

Dr. Schwartzman’s recognition reflects his commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and medical education. Through his dedication to teaching, mentorship, and compassionate clinical practice, he continues to model the highest ideals of academic medicine for students, trainees, and colleagues.
