Guest Lectures

On this page, we will have videos from our lecture series featuring experts in the field of aging and geriatric psychiatry on various topics.

This first, two-part video features Dr. Cohen and Dr. Jay Sokolovsky, Professor of Anthropology, University of South Florida. Dr. Sokolovsky is a nationally recognized expert on the anthropology of aging. He provides lectures on cultural competency and conduct anthropology teaching rounds during his visits to SUNY Downstate. He also provides guidance to our fellows’ research projects and participates in the core seminars. Part III represents Dr. Sokolovsky's current research and findings on anthropology of aging adults.

The second, two-part video presents Howard S. Berliner, Professor of Health Policy and Management and Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management. Prior to Downstate, he was Professor of Health Policy and Management at the New School University. He previously served as the Assistant State Health Commissioner for New Jersey. He is also the author of seven book sand numerous articles and reviews on health policy issues in academic and professional Journals.
