Geriatric Psychiatry Clinical Program and Curriculum
The Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program at SUNY Downstate is one of the oldest fellowship programs in the country , priding itself on the production of skilled clinicians, researchers, and educators. Founded in 1984, the program is based at State University of New Y ork Health Science Education Center in Brooklyn, N.Y ., and focuses on training culturally competent physicians to work with older adults in urban and public settings. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary , person-centered approach to geriatrics with considerable interaction among the fellows across geriatric psychiatry and geriatric medicine fellowship programs.
