Focus on urban and immigrant health in our graduate-level public health programs.
As a student in Downstate's School of Public Health, you'll study alongside physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and other health professionals, as well as recent college graduates and professionals seeking additional education. In addition to covering foundational public health topics, you'll also study community organization; sex, gender, race and ethnicity; and other elements of the urban and immigrant experience.

Scholarship Opportunities
Partial and full tuition scholarships are available to students to support MPH, DrPH, MD/MPH and MHA programs of study. Scholarship eligibility and determination is made at the time of admission. No additional materials are required for consideration.

Downstate Public Health Scholarship Program
- Provides $5,000 – $10,000 scholarships across master and doctoral programs
- Provides access to a student-tailored mentoring program focused on health equity, called PROGRESS
- Supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
Clinical Research Scholars Training Program (CREST)
- Provides full tuition support for clinicians interested in health equity research
- Trainees also receive a stipend for professional development
- Additional grant writing and research funding available
- Supported by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Center of Excellence for Diversity and Equity in Medicine (COE)
- Provides full tuition support for clinicians interested in health equity research
- Trainees also receive a stipend for professional development
- Additional grant writing and research funding available
- Supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
Translational Program of Health Disparities Research Training (TRANSPORT)
- Provides tuition and stipend support for DrPH and MD/MPH students interested in health equity research
- Offers a structured intensive research mentoring experience with Downstate faculty
- Supported by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
