Dr. Jeng

SUNY Downstate's Department of Surgery was proudly represented by our chief resident, Amy Jeng, MD, and her mentors, Jose J Alberty-Oller, MD and Kseniya Roudakova, MD (Kings County Hospital) at this year's annual Miami Breast Conference.

Dr. Jeng will be starting her Breast Surgery Fellowship in the fall, presented a poster comparing palpable and nonpalpable DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ; a condition that affects the cells of the milk ducts in the breast).Dr. Jeng

Dr. Jeng and Dr. Roudakova, a Downstate Department of Surgery Alum and breast surgeon at Kings County Hospital, presented a poster on the discordance between OncotypeDx scores and Mammaprint scores in breast cancer. OncotypeDX is a test that predicts how likely breast cancer is to spread to somewhere else in the body (secondary breast cancer) within 10 years of diagnosis, in people who will be taking hormone therapy for at least 5 years. Mammoprint is a genomic test that analyzes the activity of certain genes in early-stage breast cancer.

It is our pleasure to announce that Dr. Amy Jeng's poster was selected as the winner of the Early Career Poster Award at the conference. Congratulations to both Dr. Kseniya Roudakova and Dr. Amy Jeng for their excellent work!
