Newly-Renovated Suite

University Hospital of Brooklyn is proud to offer state-of-the-art mammography in its newly renovated, dedicated Mammography Suite. The suite offers complete breast imaging services in a welcoming and comfortable environment. Services offered include digital mammography, breast ultrasound, and image-guided (ultrasound and stereotactic) biopsies.

Digital mammography is the primary screening tool used in breast cancer detection. Early detection saves lives by diagnosing breast cancer in the early, more easily treatable stages.

We are also pleased to offer state-of-the-art technology in the form of 3D mammography. This new technology used to identify breast cancer allows doctors to examine breast tissue one layer at a time. 3D mammography uses high-powered computing to convert digital breast images into a stack of thin layers or "slices"– building what is essentially a "3-dimensional mammogram".

Diagnostic ultrasound, also called sonography, is an imaging study that uses a transducer with high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within the body. This examination is painless and does not use radiation. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating various diseases and conditions.
