Pediatric Radiology

The Pediatric Radiology section is responsible for performing and evaluating all imaging studies for children from the newborn period to age 17. The department has one Pediatric Radiologist with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Pediatric Radiology.

Pediatric radiology is unique among the radiological subspecialties in that it is a multi-modality section. Evaluation includes X-Rays , Fluoroscopy including barium studies and cystogram studies, Sonogram including abdomen, pelvis, head, spine and hips and small parts, Body CT and Body MRI. The multi-modality approach allows for comprehensive patient care. The optimal diagnostic work up can be tailored to the individual disease process and patient age.

The pediatric radiology section works closely with pediatric specialty caregivers. There are weekly conferences with the pediatricians, the NICU staff, the pediatric gastroenterologists, the pediatric oncologists, the pediatric pathologists and the pediatric surgeons. The radiologists also work closely with the pediatric residents, fellows and medical students. There is an elective available for fourth year medical students and pediatric residents upon request.
