Department of Urology

The Department of Urology provides Medical and Surgical Management of Urological Issues for both men and women. Disorders managed by the Department of Urology include; cancer of the kidneys and bladder, prostate cancer screening and treatment, kidney stone disease, urinary problems, and erectile dysfunction. The Department of Urology utilizes the latest technology, including the DaVinci Robotic Surgery Platform; all physicians are board certified. The faculty actively participates in clinical research. Most Insurances are accepted. Patients, please contact your insurance carrier to determine if PCP referral is necessary to see a specialist.

Brian K. McNeil, MD, MBA, FACS

Dr. McNeil is the Department of Urology Chief of Service, Vice-Chairman and ACGME Residency Program Director.

Dr. McNeil is a graduate of Morehouse College, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Urology at Loyola University Medical Center of Chicago. Following the completion of his Residency, he did extensive research in Uro-Oncology at the National Institute of Health and Johns Hopkins. His training culminated with an operative fellowship in Uro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Dr. McNeil provides services in General Urology and Uro-Oncology for both men and women. He has office hours in University Hospital Brooklyn Suite I, and performs surgery at University Hospital of Brooklyn. Dr. McNeil is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Llewellyn M. Hyacinthe, MD, MBA, FACS

In addition to General Urology, Dr. Hyacinthe offers Robotic Surgery for both benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, kidney, and bladder.

Dr. Hyacinthe is a graduate of Yale University with a BA in Economics, and is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After completing his residency in Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital, Dr. Hyacinthe began his clinical practice in Brooklyn. He has served as Director of Urology at Kings County Hospital Center and has been a member of the Downstate Clinical Faculty since 1998, currently serving as Associate Professor of Urology with tenure.

Dr. Hyacinthe's clinical practice is located at Family Health Services at Lefferts Avenue as well as in Suite I at University Hospital. Dr. Hyacinthe performs surgery at the University Hospital of Brooklyn. He is certified by the American Board of Urology, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
