Message from the CNO: Nurses Week May 6-12, 2026
By Chief Nursing Officer | May 4, 2026
Greetings Nursing Team,
As your Chief Nursing Officer, it is both an honor and a privilege to recognize and celebrate each of you during Nurses Week 2026. This year’s theme, “The Power of Nurses,” carries even greater significance as the American Nurses Association celebrates 130 years of leading and advancing the nursing profession and has proclaimed 2026 as “The Year of The Power of Nurses.”
This national recognition highlights what we see every day—your compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment are the foundation of safe, high-quality care, and it is an integral part of our hospital’s success. You transform lives, strengthen our community, and continuously inspire excellence in healthcare.
In celebration of your extraordinary contributions, we are excited to offer a week of activities designed to honor and recognize you. We encourage you to take time to participate, connect, and enjoy the moments created just for you.
We will kick off the week with the Nursing Welcoming Ceremony on May 6th at 10:00 a.m. in PHAB Hall, and I sincerely hope you will join us as we begin this special celebration together.
Nursing Leaders: Please share the Nurses Week calendar (see attached) with your teams and encourage participation. This year’s events include both hospital-wide and unit-based activities to promote engagement, recognition, and team-building.
Thank you for your dedication, your resilience, and the exceptional care you provide every day. I am deeply grateful for each of you and proud to serve alongside such an outstanding team.
With appreciation,
Cheryl A. Rolston
Chief Nursing Officer
