Helpful Information

  • Always use Downstate 'Ship To' standards (link) on EVERY incoming parcel for any/all parcels you expect to receive. When a parcel has compliant 'Ship to' addressing, internal deliveries are made on a daily basis as quickly as volume permits to all offices within the University Hospital, BSB, PHAB and Education Bldg. Off site buildings are delivered to on a scheduled basis; contact Central Receiving (eMail link) for the next expected internal delivery date to your site.

Non-compliant Ship to label cause delays in internal delivery and put your shipment at risk of being returned to sender.

  • Overnight Express & perishable shipments are given priority for delivery to departments when they arrive. However, if your department is expecting an emergency shipment, please do contact Central Receiving (eMail link) in advance for any needed special delivery or pick-up arrangements.
  • Emergency deliveries after business hours (evenings, weekends or holidays) are delivered to the University Police main office at the 445 Lenox Road lobby. See Off Hour Emergency Deliveries (link) Make special arrangements in advance with the hospital administrator on duty for any perishable items requiring refrigeration.
  • Storage: The Receiving staging area is not a storage area. User departments must plan in advance for adequate departmental storage space when large shipments are ordered. If your department requires any special storage arrangements, please make advance arrangements and advise the Receiving management.
