Operation Schedule and Staffing

The Microbiology laboratories are staffed by technologists from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 7 Days / Week.

Specimen Collection

All specimens are to be delivered to Laboratory Central Receiving, Room A2-428, Extension 2815, 4216.

Result Reporting

All positive blood and CSF cultures will be reported to the floor by telephone even though the identity and antibiotic sensitivity of the organism may not be completed at that time. Physician will receive telephone reports when gram stains or India ink preparation of specimens reveals the presence of organisms. All urethral specimens containing organisms suggestive of N, gonorrhea will be reported to the physician. All reports will be in the CERNER LIS System.
