What We Do
The LIS Department is responsible for the implementation, education, support, and maintenance at all campuses of the University Hospital’s Department of Pathology’s information systems. This includes:
- Cerner, CoPath, Softtech, POC, Instrument interfaces, NYS DOH and NYC DOH interfaces, Reference Lab InterfacesPrepare Statistical Information and Data Extracts
- Manage the security of all laboratory information systems
- Ensure all laboratory computer systems and users are compliant with regulatory agencies ex. CAP, NYS DOH, AABB, FDA and JointCommission
- Maintain the Clinical Laboratory Charge master
- Maintain the Clinical Labs Intranet Websites

The LIS technical staff includes licensed clinical lab technologists with multiple years of experience who understand patient care requirements, laboratory operations and regulatory issues.
The routine LIS section operation hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday - Friday with
a 24-hour on-call service for emergencies.
