Eyelid or eye socket trauma

Eyelid laceration, orbital fracture

The oculoplastics service is equipped to handle all forms of trauma to the eyelids, tear duct, and orbit. We take care of trauma patients on an urgent basis to ensure the best possible result can be obtained. Lacerations can be repaired under local anesthesia and will be repaired with the goal of restoring normal appearance and function of the eyelids. Orbital fractures are common because some of the orbital bones are thin and prone to break with facial trauma. Common symptoms of orbital fractures include double vision, trouble moving the eyes in all directions, a sunken eye and facial numbness. You surgeon will evaluate your fractures to judge whether medication or surgery will be best for you. Orbital fractures are repaired in the operating room with anesthesia.
