SUNY Downstate Returns to Heart Health Expo at Maggie Dixon Classic, Dec. 19
Dec 15, 2010
SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University physicians and staff will again provide free cardiac screenings to children and young adults up to age 22 attending the Maggie Dixon Classic Women’s Basketball NCAA tournament at Madison Square Garden. The event takes place Sunday, December 19, 2010, beginning at 12 Noon.
In this year’s tournament, Rutgers will face Texas A&M, and, in the second game, UConn will face Ohio State.
The Maggie Dixon Classic is held annually in memory of the former Army Black Knights women’s basketball coach, who died suddenly at age 28 due to an arrhythmia caused by a previously undiagnosed heart condition. Three weeks earlier, Dixon led her team to its first NCAA tournament appearance in history, capping a Cinderella season.
