Pumpkin Carving Contest Brings Surgery Community Together for Halloween Fun

Wellness committee members Dr. Lana Kass-Gergi and Dr. Pablo Cuartas hosted a resident pumpkin carving contest to celebrate Halloween. The event was well attended and the showcased the residents’ fierce carving skills and competitive spirit. Judges included trauma attending Dr. Roudnisky, pediatric chief of surgery Dr. Francisca Velcek, MIS attending Dr. Stanislav Bushik, surgical educator Dr. Warren Widmann, and wellness committee leader Dr. Lana Kass-Gergi . The first-place prize went to the “Fantastic 4,” second place prize to the “3AM Wound Vac Alarm,” and the third-place prize went to the “Level 1.” With pumpkins designs decorating the surgery department, the Halloween spirit was alive and well—reminding everyone that a little protected time for creativity can go a long way, especially when carving out good memories.
