End of Summer Party

Downstate surgery faculty, residents, family, and friends gathered for a lively end-of-summer party hosted by Department of Surgery Chair Dr. Kougias to celebrate a wonderful summer and the successful start of the clinical year. The party was held on a nearby rooftop and featured barbequed chorizo, ribs, burgers, hotdogs, bell peppers, grilled cheese, and corn on the cob grilled by Downstate surgery residents Dr. Pablo Cuartas and Dr. Zhida Jin. Dessert included homemade cupcakes baked by Dr. Lana Kass-Gergi. The event was an excellent opportunity for community bonding and wellness and thoroughly enjoyed by residents and faculty in attendance.

Nearby on-call residents were included in the celebration with an in-person delivery of food and baked foods from the party by Drs. Zhida Jin, Vincent Dodson, Evelyn Ross, and Nuley Seo. 

 

“The summer party was an absolute blast. It’s always fun to see friends and colleagues at work, but even more fun to see them relaxing and catching up outside the hospital. I already can’t wait for the next surgery party!” summarized Dr. Cuartas.
