Research Opportunities for Current Students

Program to Accelerate Academic Careers in Equity Research and Social Justice (PACERS)

PACERS is a 6-week summer program that provides current SUNY Downstate medical school students with research methodology skills in conducting health disparities and health equity focused research. The program is designed for students who are interested in developing an academic career that focuses on addressing health equity and social justice research.

Transition to Academic Careers (TRACS)

TRACS provides a one-year paid research training program focused on addressing disparities and advancing health equity. TRACS scholars participate in on-going research under the guidance of a research mentor.
TRACS is designed to strengthen research capacity in medical, graduate, and select postbaccalaureate students as they transition to the next level of their careers in biomedicine or public health. The goal is to provide students with rigorous research training and opportunities to contribute to scientific publications and strengthen their applications for residency or post-doctoral training.

TRACS is open to undergraduate students applying for pre-doctoral programs who are seeking to take a gap year as well as pre-doctoral students (e.g students enrolled in DrPH, MD, PhD or DNP programs) taking a research year.
