Honoring Downstate's Radiologic Technologists
By Office of Communications & Marketing | Nov 3, 2025
This week, as we celebrate Radiologic Technology Week (November 2–8, 2025), we proudly recognize our UHD radiologic technologists, who deliver exceptional imaging care with skill, precision, and compassion.
The 2025 national theme, “The Kaleidoscope of Radiologic Technology,” reflects the remarkable diversity of the field, uniting many specialized disciplines, including X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy. Each contributes to patient diagnosis, treatment, and recovery while sharing a unified vision of producing clear, accurate images that guide life-saving decisions every day.
At Downstate, radiologic technology is a vital clinical service and a cornerstone of our academic mission. At the School of Health Professions' Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, students train alongside expert faculty and clinical technologists across a variety of specialized sonography departments in state-of-the-art imaging environments. They gain not only a deep understanding of the science of diagnostic imaging, but also the empathy and professionalism that define our standard of care. The Diagnostic Imaging Division at UHD exemplifies this partnership, serving thousands of patients each year while mentoring the next generation of sonographers who will carry this mission of care forward.
Each year, Radiologic Technology Week culminates on November 8, the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s 1895 discovery of the X-ray. This 130-year legacy has revolutionized modern medicine.
Please join us in expressing our gratitude to our radiologic technologists for their vital role in delivering high-quality imaging care to our patients every day.
