Admissions
Leverage the resources of Brooklyn's only academic medical center to pursue cutting-edge biomedical science.
Downstate's School of Graduate Studies offers doctoral degrees in three areas:
- Neural and behavioral science, which features neuroscience research at both the molecular and behavioral level.
- Molecular and cellular biology, which offers concentrations in cardiovascular science, fundamental cellular and molecular biology, cancer biology and more.
- Biomedical engineering, which is offered jointly with Polytechnic Institute of NYU and includes concentrations in robotics, imaging and materials.
In addition, a joint MD/Ph.D. program combines a Downstate medical degree with a doctorate in any of those fields. A separate Ph.D. track in nanoscale science or engineering is offered through SUNY's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany.
