Pediatric Neurology

The Division of Pediatric Neurology offers comprehensive care for children with a wide range of neurological diseases including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, headaches, head injury, autism, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, congenital malformations, and CNS tumors. We educate patients and their families about the disease and offer compassionate care.

The Division has a commitment to excellence in teaching and is highly supportive of both clinical and basic science research. Primary patient care is conducted at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Centerm, University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) and the Kings County Hospital Center (KCH). We are also affiliated with other academic institutions in Brooklyn and Staten Island such as the New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities.

Residency Training

The Division of Pediatric Neurology offers a comprehensive ACGME accredited 3-year training program in child neurology with inpatient and outpatient exposure to various subspecialties. Training involves approximately 12 months in adult neurology (with six months of inpatient training), 12 months in pediatric neurology, and 12 months in subspecialties and electives.
