The Investigations Unit

Sr. Investigator Dewell Narvaez is responsible for the University Police Investigations Unit Office and can be reached at 718-270-3067. The Investigators conduct follow up investigations for all criminal incidents that occur on campus, and for other investigations as directed. They review and analyze all incident reports for trends and make recommendations for crime reduction strategies. Statistics are prepared for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, various Downstate Health Sciences University committees and the Chief, University Police. They conduct background investigations for all personnel seeking employment with the department and maintain liaison with the local police agencies. They also perform security surveys and conduct crime prevention programs upon request.
