The Investigations Unit

The Investigations Unit conducts follow-up investigations for all criminal incidents that occur on campus, and for other investigations as directed. It reviews and analyzes all incident reports for trends and makes recommendations for crime reduction strategies. Statistics are prepared for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, various Downstate Health Sciences University committees and the Chief of the University Police.

The Investigations Unit conducts background investigations for all personnel seeking employment with the department and maintains liaison with local police agencies. It also performs security surveys and conducts crime prevention programs upon request.
