Ernest Barthélemy, M.D., Neurosurgery Chief, presented at the 2022 Future Leaders in Neurosurgery Symposium for Underrepresented Students (FLNSUS) earlier this month during a memorable day of empowerment, mentorship, and networking!


Ryan Kaiser, M.D., PY-G 3 resident, presented at the William A. Briscoe New York Lung Club at Weill Cornell in August. His topic was “The potential role of s-nitrosylated hemoglobin in organ dysfunction associated with sepsis.”


Dennis Sutterfield, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, is a finalist in the Enterprise category of the NYC 2022 CIO ORBIE Award competition. The ORBIE recognizes CIO leaders who drive innovation. Winners will be announced in December.


Kitaw Demissie, M.D., Ph.D., Dean of the School of Public Health, will be honored at SportsBall, the 28th Annual Black Tie & Sneakers Gala of the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health (AAIUH), on October 20.


Luz Maria Rodriguez, M.D., FACS, COM Class of 1997 alum, was appointed as the first Latina to head the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS). Dr. Rodriguez is a Program Director and Medical Officer in the Gastrointestinal and Other Cancers Research Group NCI Division of Cancer Prevention at the NIH. The Society’s mission is to improve health, advance science, and foster careers of African American and other underrepresented minority surgeons. She was formerly the SBAS Board Secretary.
