Information for Visiting Residents or Fellows

As part of SUNY Downstate Medical Center's three part mission to provide excellence in education, research and clinical care with an emphasis on urban health concerns, Downstate sponsors graduate medical education for over 900 residents & fellows in over 50 specialties and subspecialties.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals can provide you with an opportunity to be engaged in a training program that represents a cross-section of affiliates with varied patient case mix and outstanding medical teaching facilities. When you rotate at SUNY Downstate Medical Center Affiliated Hospitals Residency Programs, you will have the opportunity to benefit from experiencing clinical services at a number of exceptional and diverse hospitals.

As an External or Visiting Rotator you are required to complete the necessary requirements before you can begin your rotation here at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. All required documents must be submitted to the GME Office 6 weeks prior to the start date of your rotation. Please contact the program you wish to rotate into or the GME office for the requirements.
