Applicants

 

The categorical residency in general surgery is a 5-year program. We are approved for the following positions each year:

  • 8 (eight) categorical positions
  • several preliminary positions (PGY1 and PGY2 year)
    • applicants should hold valid visas and go through ERAS 

Applications are accepted through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Since 1999, all applications have been through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). For more information regarding ERAS, please go to ERAS for Institutions

Our requirements for application include a

    1. Completed ERAS application
    2. Personal Statement
    3. Curriculum vitae
    4. Official Medical School Transcript
    5. Three letters of recommendation 
    6. USMLE (ECFMG) board scores 
    7. Dean's letter
    8. Personal interview 

Potential applicants must be:

  • Graduates of an LCME-accredited medical school in the USA or Canada, Graduates of an American Osteopathic Association-accredited school of Osteopathy,
  • International Medical Graduates who have a valid certificate from the ECFMG, or have a full and unrestricted license to practice in a US licensing jurisdiction, or graduates of an LCME-approved 5th Pathway Program.
