Research Interests

Scope

Endothelial signal transduction pathways during vascular diseases. Our goal is to understand cytokine induce endothelial cell activation and apoptosis leading to vascular injury. Mouse models of endothelial specific gene expression are developed in the lab to understand the role of endothelial activation in lung diseases.

Xenotransplantation of genetically altered swine to primates. Receptor - ligand interactions involved in cytolytic lymphocyte destruction of tumor cells and/or organ grafts.

Sleep-disordered breathing. Obstructive sleep apnea.

Clinical studies on TB, e.g. retrospective case series and prospective study involving patients in DOT (directly observed therapy) program. Longstanding interest in respiratory physiology (mechanics, resp. muscles, control of breathing).
