The postgraduate program in obstetrics and gynecology advances six physicians at each level through four years of training. The program is based at Kings County Hospital and The University Hospital of Brooklyn. There are approximately 4000 deliveries and 1700 Gynecologic procedures per year for both sites.

The program is designed to provide the resident with broad clinical training in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology in addition to exposure to the subspecialty areas. Residents are assigned to the "core" obstetric and gynecologic services, as well as the subspecialty areas, including Gynecologic Oncology, Family Planning, Reproductive Endocrinology-Infertility, Urogynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The program is designed to adequately prepare the resident for practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology, subspecialty fellowship, or an academic career.

The department has a substantial commitment to teaching and research. Residents are appointed to the teaching staff of the School of Medicine and participate actively in the medical student teaching program. All residents receive four weeks of vacation per year. The Ob/Gyn Department also pays for any resident who has a research paper to present at a national meeting. Health and disability insurance, scrubs and on-call rooms are provided. Parking is also available for a modest monthly fee.

Applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Completed applications and credentials received before November 10 are reviewed by the Education Sub-Committee for selection of candidates to be invited for formal interviews. Formal interviews are conducted by invitation only. Interview dates are in December and January.
