Faculty 

Tsai C. Chao, MD, the Course Director for the program, a board certified and diplomat physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation, is the Director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Residency Program in the Department of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He is also a guest professor at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was trained in traditional Chinese acupuncture in China in 1970. Dr. Chao is a pioneer in the practice of acupuncture in the United States. In addition to his directorship at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Chao has an extensive private practice in both western and traditional Chinese medicine, in which patients are treated at three facilities in the New York City area.

Clinical Faculty

Peiti Cai, MD
Dr. Cai received his Acupuncture training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and his physician training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. Dr. Cai is currently practicing as an attending physician at the Department of Veterans Affairs in New York.

Decheng Chen, PhD.
Dr. Chen received his Doctor of Medicine from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has done extensive research in Acupuncture, authored several publications and received several honors for research in acupuncture and moxibustion in China. Dr. Chen is currently the medical director and owner of Natural Acupuncture and Wellness Plc. in New York City.

Qianhong Li, Lac. MS
Ms. Li has a Doctor of Medicine from Shanghai University of TCM and a Masters in Health Education from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Currently Ms. Li is a practicing acupuncturist and a Nurse Practitioner.

Deborah Turek, LAc
Ms. Turek is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego and California and is nationally board certified. Ms. Turek specializes in orthopedic work and is currently Medical Director of Chrysalis Acupuncture in New York City. She has worked with professional athletes in New York and California.
