Downstate’s 2023 Student Data Now Available

SUNY Downstate Facts and Figures Fall 2023, developed by the Office of Academic Affairs, offers a comprehensive glimpse into Downstate’s pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals in New York State. This year marks a significant milestone as we proudly announce our highest-ever enrollment of 2,204 students across 28 distinct programs, underscoring our influence and excellent healthcare education.
Enrollment data not only showcase Downstate’s robust diversity in gender, race, and ethnicity but also highlight our essential role in fostering inclusivity among the next generation of healthcare professionals. Our Colleges and Schools report higher female student enrollments and an impressive 65 percent of students come from diverse backgrounds, reflecting the rich tapestries of Brooklyn and New York State.
Enrollment figures underscore our regional influence and appeal, particularly in Brooklyn and across New York City and the State, demonstrating Downstate’s ability to adapt and respond to the changing requirements of the healthcare sector. Graduates make a difference in hospitals throughout New York City, the state, nation, and globally, ensuring communities receive the highest standard of care. Some highlights include:
