Brooklyn Health Promotion Center Mentors

At SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, mentors associated with the Brooklyn Health Promotion Center (BHPC) play a critical role in advancing health equity, translational research, and community-driven wellness across Brooklyn’s diverse populations. Working alongside key initiatives like the TRANSPORT research training programs, these faculty advisors and research leaders guide students and early-career investigators—ranging from high school scholars to post-doctoral fellows—in addressing systemic health disparities. By pairing rigorous academic instruction with hands-on, community-based participatory research and advocacy, BHPC mentors help cultivate the next generation of healthcare professionals and clinical researchers dedicated to improving public health outcomes in underserved urban communities.
