Celebrating Downstate’s Pharmacy Team

By Office of Communications & Marketing | Oct 19, 2026

Pharmacy WeekDuring National Pharmacy Week, October 18–24, 2026, we thank Downstate’s pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff for caring for our patients, employees, and Brooklyn neighbors.

Managing an illness or heading home from the hospital can bring medication questions. What is this for? When should I take it? How does it fit with my other medicines? Someone who takes time to explain and listen can help you feel more confident caring for yourself or a loved one.

Across Downstate’s clinical, operational, outpatient and specialty pharmacy services, our colleagues help ensure safe medication use throughout treatment and recovery, connecting hospital care with care at home.

Meds-to-Beds delivers prescribed discharge medications to patients at their bedside before they leave University Hospital at Downstate. Pharmacists also explain how to use them. For patients and families heading home, avoiding another stop at the pharmacy can ease an already demanding day.

Our commitment to Keep Care Close includes medications and guidance on how to use them. The SUNY Outpatient Pharmacy on Clarkson Avenue offers prescription services, medication counseling, and over-the-counter products. It is also a convenient resource for employees managing their own health.

Please join us in thanking our Pharmacy team for the attention you bring to each prescription, the questions you answer, and the reassurance you offer patients and families.

Visit the SUNY Outpatient Pharmacy at 470A Clarkson Avenue, or call 718-270-MEDS (6337) to learn more.
