We are pleased to share news of the appointment of Sarah Vossoughi, M.D., RN, as Vice Chair and Chief of Clinical Pathology, Director of Clinical Laboratories
in the Department of Pathology. Dr. Vossoughi assumed directorship of our Clinical
Laboratories in mid-August.
Dr. Vossoughi is dual board certified in Clinical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine, of the Clinical Pathology residency at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University Medical Center, and the Transfusion Medicine fellowship at the New York Blood Center. An experienced laboratory director, Dr. Vossoughi has previously held leadership roles at New York Blood Center Enterprises as Senior Vice President of Laboratories, Vice President of Medical Affairs, and Enterprise Medical Director, at Columbia University Medical Center as Director of Apheresis and Cellular Collections, and at New York Presbyterian-Westchester as Director of Clinical Pathology. She has expertise in hemovigilance and transfusion reactions. Dr. Vossoughi is also a decorated military veteran and served as a Captain and aeromedical evacuation nurse in the United States Air Force, earning seven medals over three deployments while leading trauma teams, commanding combat medical evacuations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and directing disaster preparedness training for tens of thousands of service members spanning three continents.
Dr. Vossoughi looks forward to working with everyone at the hospital to develop practical, real-world evidence-based solutions that can be implemented at the bedside to improve patient care.
