Number of weeks for vacation, interviews, Step 2, extra electives, remediation of deficiencies (if any) 16 weeks.
In addition to the above clinical requirements:
- Students are required to register and schedule the USMLE Step 2 Ck and CS examinations by November 1st of senior year.
- Students are required to take the USMLE Step 2 CK and CS examinations no later than January 31st of their senior year.
- Students are required to successfully pass a mandatory standardized patient experience, which is scheduled in the spring of the third year.
Completion of Requirements / Graduation dates
Students graduate and are awarded their diplomas three times per year: May 31st, June 15th and December 31st. Students completing requirements by June 15th will receive a June dated diploma. Students completing requirements after June 15th, over the summer, in the fall or before December 31st will receive a December dated diploma.
An annual Commencement ceremony is held in May each year. Students who will complete their degree requirements after May 31st, but prior to September 30th of that year will have their records reviewed by the Grades Committee and the Academic Promotions Committee for approval to participate in the May ceremony. Permission to participate may be approved or denied by these Committees.
Graduation Awards
Candidates for Distinction in Research or Commendation in Investigative Scholarship awards should inform the College of Medicine's Dean's Office, through their Department Chair, that they intend to submit project reports for consideration by December 31 of the senior year. Proposed title, starting and finishing dates, and sponsor must be included in the information submitted to the Dean's Office. Completed project reports should be submitted to the College of Medicine's Dean's Office, as early as possible as and no later than March 1 of the senior year.
