General Policies

The amount of financial aid available through the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University's financial assistance program is limited. Students are expected to make use of outside aid sources whenever possible. Aid from the institution is intended primarily for those students who need additional aid beyond what is available from outside resources.

The Office of Financial Aid, based on each student's economic circumstances, the comparative financial need of the student population and the limited resources available for financial aid, will determine the evaluation of financial need. The final responsibility for determining the amount and distribution of financial aid rests with the Director of Student Financial Services.
