Brooklyn is a wonderful place to live and work. One of the largest cities in the United States, with 2.5 million residents, it is home to remarkably diverse neighborhoods, rich cultural offerings, beautiful parks, and a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene.

Opportunities for outdoor activity abound. Prospect Park, designed by Central Park masterminds Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, provides 585 acres of rolling hills, wetlands, and indigenous forest. The park also contains a band shell, a zoo, an ice rink, carousel and athletic facilities. In warm weather, students can explore Brooklyn's famous beaches, including Coney Island and the famous Cyclone roller coaster.

Brooklyn boasts a wide diversity of residential areas, from tree-lined streets of historic brownstones to converted warehouse lofts. There are unique shopping enclaves and abundant cafes and coffee shops.

One of the pre-eminent cultural centers in the United States, Brooklyn is home to the world-renowned Brooklyn Academy of Music and Brooklyn Philharmonic, as well as the Brooklyn Museum, which houses the second largest public art collection in the country.

There are many options for an night on the town. Barclay's Center is home to the NBA's Brooklyn Nets and the NHL's New York Islanders, and also serves as a concert venue. Many smaller nightclubs showcase up-and-coming artists.
