Message from the Interim Chair

Welcome to the Department of Otolaryngology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.

We are a department defined by our deep commitment to caring for our community, advancing knowledge, and supporting the growth of the next generation of otolaryngologists. It is a privilege for all of us, faculty, resident colleagues, students, and staff to work together in service of these goals.

Our residents are at the heart of our mission. Their dedication, curiosity, and professionalism bring energy and purpose to our daily work. As educators and clinicians, we strive to create an environment where our trainees feel supported, challenged, and inspired. We learn from them just as they learn from us, and their contributions strengthen every aspect of our department.

We also take great pride in the compassionate, high-quality care we provide to the diverse communities of Brooklyn. Our faculty bring extraordinary expertise to the full spectrum of the specialty, and our collaborative approach ensures that every patient is met with respect, diligence, and empathy.

During this period of transition, we remain focused on building upon the strong foundation that already exists within our department. We are working to enhance clinical services, expand educational opportunities, strengthen research initiatives, and support the professional development of all who contribute to our shared mission.
