Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our Fellowship Training Program, and congratulations on your decision to pursue a career in gynecologic oncology. The fellowship program in gynecologic oncology at the State University Health Science Center at Brooklyn is an approved three year program designed to prepare trainees for board certification and an academic career in the discipline of gynecologic oncology. The first two years are clinical, in which the trainee learns all aspects of surgical gynecologic oncology, principles of chemotherapy and radiation oncology. The third year is one of research, in which the trainee executes a specific and well-designed research agenda.

Our Division of Gynecologic Oncology has had a rich history of clinical and academic success, and continues to be at the force front of cancer treatment for women with gynecologic malignancy. We are active participants in the Gynecologic oncology Group (GOG). Our division receives grant funding for research from a wide variety of sources, and is integrally involved in the training and teaching of residents and medical students.

We participate in National Resident Matching Program for selection of fellowship candidates in gynecologic oncology. Our fellowship program is highly competitive, and on site interviews are granted by invitation only.

Again, thank you for your interest, and good luck in the application process.

Sincerely,

Ioannis Alagkiozidis, MD
