Ketan & Nirmala Shevde Scholarships and Awards

The goal of the Ketan and Nirmala Shevde Scholarships and Awards is to provide multifaceted support for medical students and residents to promote Anesthesia Research, advance academic excellence, and support finance need.

Drs. Ketan and Nirmala Shevde launched their scholarships in 2014 with the Shevde Family Scholarship Fund for Medical Students in Anesthesia Research. Up to two medical students annually receive support for 8-weeks of training in anesthesia research with a faculty mentor.

They have strengthened their commitment by adding:

• A scholarship for medical students based on academic merit and financial need
• An award for anesthesiology residents
• A reimbursement for anesthesia research fellow(s) awarded for attendance at scientific meetings.

We are truly grateful to Dr. Ketan Shevde and Dr. Nirmala Shevde for their magnanimous and continued support and for the generations of future anesthesiologists and other physicians who will be educated thanks to the distinction of their generosity to SUNY Downstate Medical Center and the Ketan and Nirmala Shevde Scholarships and Awards.
