The purpose of the account is to fund Residency Program Coordinator Forum (RPCF) activities. Activities that the RPCF will be involved in are Annual Residency Program Coordinator Educational Retreat, educational conference attendance for coordinators (ACGME, specialty meetings etc.), travel, printing, food, registrations, speaker honorariums, educational and professional development literature, awards, scholarships, office supplies. and skills not sufficiently represented by current faculty. In 2005 budget terms,

The Glenn L Schattman, M.D. Family Scholarship Fund (Acct-2436)
The purpose of the Fund is to provide an amount, not to exceed $10,000 per year, to
support the cost of tuition of one (1) medical student enrolled in the school with
documented financial need per the College's Admissions committee, at the onset of
the student's first year and to be continued throughout that student's full four (4)
years of attendance, provided that the student remains in good academic standing.
A new student will be selected each subsequent four (4) years for the Fund's award.

College of Nursing Giving Tree: Growing the Future of Nursing (Acct-2704)
Scholarships and awards in the College of Nursing (CON) include (award specific criteria in italics):
- Academic Excellence Award (full-time enrollment, completion of at least 2 semesters in the CON, both academic excellence and financial need);
- Professional Development Award (healthcare leadership excellence, support awarded for specific projects such as training and workshops);
- Student/Faculty Research Award (research must be approved and working with CON faculty, usage of funds can include equipment, supplies, posters);
- Community Activities/Service Award (support awarded for specific projects/activities such as cultural immersion, health fair planning/implementation for medically underserved clients);
- Growing the Future of Nursing Award is awarded for curricular innovations, special lecturers and other opportunities/projects supporting the Mission/Vision of the CON (support awarded for specific projects/activities).
In addition to award specific criteria, all awards require enrollment in good standing in the College of Nursing.

The Nursing Care Fund (Acct-3994)
The Nursing Cares Fund is established to assist Downstate College of Nursing Students in meeting immediate financial expenses due to unforeseen, temporary hardships. Awards not exceeding $500 will be made to eligible nursing students in an effort to maintain academic progression and well-being in the student's program of study. Currently enrolled students may apply for funds when all other resources have been exhausted Examples of covered expenses include: 1) Textbooks/unexpected educational expenses, 2) Travel costs due to death or illness of an immediate family member, 3) Medications, 4) Food, 5) Utilities, 6) Technological support, 7) Clothing, 8) Shelter, 9) Disaster relief

- Student Emergency Fund (Limited to students experiencing adverse events [fire, natural disaster, etc.] that interfere with studies. Funds may support specific, documentable needs [e.g. replacement of destroyed text books, computer, etc.].)
- Student/Faculty Research Award (research must be approved and working with SOHP faculty, usage of funds can include equipment, supplies, posters);
- Community Activities/Service Award (support awarded for specific projects/activities such as cultural immersion, health fair planning/implementation for medically underserved clients).
Each SOHP Program (Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Medical Informatics, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy,
Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant) may have specific scholarships and awards that may be supported by the Giving Tree.

Lowell E. Bellin, M.D. Award for Excellence in Public Health
The Lowell E. Bellin, M.D. Award for Excellence in Public Health was established in 1988 in honor of the late Dr. Lowell E. Bellin, an alumnus of the College of Medicine. This award is given to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellence in required and elective courses in public health, and has shown exemplary dedication for excellence in public health professional practice.
