Scholarship to a Medical Student for excellence in research in Allergy & Immunology.

Infectious Disease

The William McCormack, M.D. Scholarship Fund (Acct-3054)

One to three annual awards rewarding successful scholarly projects by Medical Students interested in the study of Infectious Diseases.  Criteria include: outstanding work and important clinical and scientific topics.

Pulmonary and Critical Care

The James Mahoney, M.D. Scholarship Fund (Acct-4704)

Scholarship to support talented and deserving medical students from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in medicine.

Rheumatology

Douglas J. Mund, M.D. Scholarship Award Fund (Acct-4834)

Annual award to a Resident showing interest and proficiency in Rheumatology

Alvin M. Siegler, M.D., Scholarship Fund in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Acct-4694)

Annual award recognizing a Senior Resident in Obstetrics & Gynecology who has demonstrated excellent skills with patients and operative technique as well as an interest in scholarship and research.

The Harriet E. Russell Scholarship Fund (Acct-4764)

Annual scholarship award to a Resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology who has attained a level of excellence in both educational scholarship and patient care.

Robert C. Knapp, M.D. Scholarship Fund in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Acct-2564)

Annual scholarship to a second-year Resident in Obstetrics & Gynecology who has shown interest in a career in Gynecologic Oncology.  If no Resident in Obstetrics & Gynecology has shown interest in Gynecologic Oncology, then a Resident in Radiation Oncology is eligible for the award for that year.

Annual award for excellence for a 3rd or 4th year female Medical Student.

A scholarship for Medical Students based on merit and financial need.  

H. Stuart Smith Scholarship (Acct-6294)

Award to be distributed at the discretion of the Dean.

Matthew A. Comay, M.D. Scholarship (Acct-5295)

Annual scholarship awarded to Medical Students who demonstrate both academic promise and financial need.

Trude Perlman Award (Acct-6074)

The Trude Perlman Memorial Award is for deserving Medical Students’ spouses.

The Harriet E. Russell Scholarship Fund (Acct-4764)

Annual scholarship award to a student who has demonstrated an interest in becoming a Medical Student. 

Zahra Said Scholarship (Acct-4785)

The Zahra Said Scholarship supports deserving female students in medicine and nursing whose opportunities may be limited by cultural, religious, socioeconomic or other circumstance.

Diversity Education & Research

Diversity Education and Research (Acct-3504)

Scholarships to attract and retain students from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in medicine and biomedical research.

Madu Rao Scholarship (Acct-2554)

Annual scholarship for outstanding 4th year minority Medical Student. Selection Criteria include: Academic Performance, Dean's Letter, Extracurricular Activities, Research Experience, and Work Ethic/Personal Qualities.

College of Nursing Giving Tree: Growing the Future of Nursing (Acct-2704)

Scholarships and awards in the College of Nursing (CON) include (award specific criteria in italics):

  • Academic Excellence Award (full-time enrollment, completion of at least 2 semesters in the CON, both academic excellence and financial need);
  • Professional Development Award (healthcare leadership excellence, support awarded for specific projects such as training and workshops);
  • Student/Faculty Research Award (research must be approved and working with CON faculty, usage of funds can include equipment, supplies, posters);
  • Community Activities/Service Award (support awarded for specific projects/activities such as cultural immersion, health fair planning/implementation for medically underserved clients);
  • Growing the Future of Nursing Award is awarded for curricular innovations, special lecturers and other opportunities/projects supporting the Mission/Vision of the CON (support awarded for specific projects/activities).

In addition to award specific criteria, all awards require enrollment in good standing in the College of Nursing.

Zahra Said Scholarship (Acct-4785)

The Zahra Said Scholarship supports deserving female students in medicine and nursing whose opportunities may be limited by cultural, religious, socioeconomic or other circumstance.

Alumni School of Graduate Studies Student Fellowship Fund (Acct-3664)

Provides support for 1) student fellowships, 2) scholarships for students from underrepresented backgrounds, 3) externships.

School of Health Professions Giving Tree (Acct-3375)

School of Health Professions Giving Tree (Acct-3375) Scholarships and awards in the School of Health Professions (SOHP) include (award specific criteria in italics):

  • Academic Excellence Award (full-time enrollment, completion of at least 2 semesters in the SOHP, both academic excellence and financial need);
  • Professional Development Award (support awarded for specific projects such as training and workshops);
  • Student Emergency Fund (Limited to students experiencing adverse events [fire, natural disaster, etc.] that interfere with studies. Funds may support specific, documentable needs [e.g. replacement of destroyed text books, computer, etc.].)
  • Student/Faculty Research Award (research must be approved and working with SOHP faculty, usage of funds can include equipment, supplies, posters);
  • Community Activities/Service Award (support awarded for specific projects/activities such as cultural immersion, health fair planning/implementation for medically underserved clients).
  • Each SOHP Program (Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Medical Informatics, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant) may have specific scholarships and awards that may be supported by the Giving Tree.

In addition to award specific criteria, all awards require enrollment in good standing in one of the six SOHP Programs.

An annual award to a graduating midwife.

Joan Ditchik Memorial Award (Acct-4594)

Annual award to graduating Midwifery Student.

Lily Hsia Midwifery Student Scholarship (Acct-2524)

To support Midwifery Student scholarship.

Alicia & Madu Rao Family Fund Scholarship (Acct-4784)

Merit based scholarship with clinical learning focus on pediatric asthma and obesity.

Global Health in Developing Countries Elective Fellowship (Acct-3234)

Fellowships for participants in the Global Health in Development Countries Elective.

MPH Biostatistics Scholarship (Acct-6304)

Scholarships in Biostatistics for students in Public Health Program.

Samuel Kavaler, M.D. (LICH ’22) and Florence Kavaler M.D. MPH (COM '59) Award (Acct-3904)

For recognition of educational achievement by student(s) in the School of Public Health.  

School of Public Health Educational Fund (Acct-3584)

Supports scholarships and awards for Students in the School of Public Health.

School of Public Health Lenard & Christine Szarek Fellowship (Acct-3254)

Fellowships for Students enrolled in the School of Public Health’s MPH or DrPh programs.

Gladys Brancati Student Center Award (Acct-3954)

All graduating students who worked at the Student Center are eligible.  A graduating student must have demonstrated commitment and dedication to the mission of the Student Center and have made a significant contribution throughout their employment.

Sesquicentennial Scholarship (Acct-4754)

The Sesquicentennial Scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more Medical Students who have demonstrated substantial financial need.

Student Book Scholarship (Acct-4734)

Scholarship to be given to students for books.
