Facilities Management & Development (FM&D) 

Facilities Management & Development is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of all of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University’s buildings and grounds, which total in excess of 2.5 million gross square feet.  The department is subdivided into three primary divisions: Physical Plant, Design and Construction, and Environmental Health & Safety. Employees within the department have diverse professional expertise in a number of areas including architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, design, project management, code compliance, environmental health and safety, and building services.

James Minto, Vice President of Facilities Management & Development, is a degreed Electrical Engineer and has more than 40 years of experience in managing facilities, such as, nuclear and fossil fuel power plants, pharmaceutical, mission-critical data centers, hospitals and universities.
