Workshop Series

These workshop series help participants develop their skills in teaching and learning from the lecture hall to the bedside; effectively assessing learners' educational needs and mastery; performing medical education scholarship; and pursuing a career as an educator and educational mentor and leader.

Medical Education Grand Rounds

      • Description: Curricular leaders introduce the Integrated Pathways Curriculum, our educational philosophy and approaches, and opportunities for faculty members to get involved.
      • Learning Objectives:
        • Explain the overarching mission of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and the principles of the Integrated Pathways Curriculum (IPC).
        • Describe instructional design, methodologies, and assessment strategies of the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine IPC and apply its fundamental principles at the bedside and beyond.
        • Promote SUNY Downstate College of Medicine’s commitment to diversity in medical education and integrate the principles of diversity and inclusivity into mentorship and teaching opportunities.
        • Share the vision for the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine’s continued quality improvement in curricular delivery and student assessments.
        • Identify opportunities for both large and small group didactics and bedside teaching in the Preclinical (Foundations) and Clinical phases of the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine’s Curriculum.
