Nourish & Nook: A Sneak Peek at Your New Favorite Spot!
By Office of the President | Sep 3, 2024
Imagine walking into Nourish & Nook, our new hospital and university cafeteria—a vibrant gathering spot where everyone can find a moment of respite, connection, and food! I recently took an exciting walk-through of the buildout and am thrilled with the progress!
Nourish & Nook will be a much-needed sanctuary for students, faculty, and staff to unwind and recharge amid the workday’s demands. With modern amenities and thoughtfully designed spaces, it is a community hub where conversations and relaxation can flow, providing calm in a busy hospital and university environment. It is also a welcoming spot for visitors to share meals with family and friends.
This new cafeteria is more than just a culinary upgrade; it is a reminder that even in an environment where challenges arise daily, moments of connection, calm, and nourishment can make them more manageable. With various dishes catering to different tastes and dietary needs, Nourish & Nook will offer a tempting array of healthful, delicious options that make meeting nutritional needs a true pleasure.
The development of Nourish & Nook is currently underway and happening in three phases. Phase 1 will be completed by the end of this month, unveiling a new and expanded seating area as we eagerly await furniture delivery. Phase 2, set for completion by the end of February 2025, involves relocating and expanding the UHD Boardroom and conference rooms, plus adding a new minimart. Finally, Phase 3, expected to be completed by the end of November 2025, focuses on expanding and renovating the servery area, making it a more efficient and welcoming space.
As we eagerly await the completion of Nourish & Nook, we invite you to envision the warmth, comfort, and sense of community this new space will bring to Downstate. It is a place where students, faculty, staff, and visitors can get together, share meaningful moments, and find a bit of calm. I am excited about this vibrant new space, where nourishment and community come together. If all goes as planned, we look forward to opening the doors by the end of September!
